Mini Boots Haul

This weekend I have managed to sneak my way into Boots twice as the weather has been beautiful here in the Lakes (for once) so I have been into town on both Saturday and Sunday for some lunches out. While I was in there they had a 3 for 2 on all skin care so I  thought I would revamp my skin care routine and I also picked up some make up bits I had been wanting to try.

Day 1

1. Vichy Laboratories Purete Thermale 3 in 1 Micellar Solution

I picked this up because I have been wanting to try Bioderma for ages but thought I would try this one to start with. I used this last night and it did a great job at removing my eye make up and wasn't harsh at all, I love Vichy One Step Cleanser, so I'm looking forward to trying this over the next couple of weeks and I'll let you know how I get on.

2. Vichy Laboratories Purete Thermale 3 in 1 One Step Cleanser

I have already done a review on this product and as it is one of my favourite's I thought I would stock up. It was on 3 for 2 after all!

3. Soap & Glory Face Soap & Clarity 3 in 1 Daily Detox Vitamin C Facial Wash

I really like Soap & Glory products and I have had this face wash before. It works really well on my skin and always helps to clear up any break out I'm having. Its great to use in the morning as it really wakes you up. It also seems to clear up any dry patches on my face I don't know if it really does but I do notice how clear my skin is when I am using this.

4. Rimmel Scandaleyes Eye Shadow Stick in 002 Bulletproof Beige

I was excited to get these as I love the Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Eyeliners but when I looked in Boots I was really disappointed with colour range. I only really wear in neutrals so this colour was the only one that really called to me. I will try it and see how it fairs against my Sleek Palettes and my Maybelline Colour Tattoo 24 Hours.

5. Maybelline The Mega Plush Mascara

I didn't really need a new mascara but this one was plastered all over the Boots Store as its a new product. I normally use 17 Falsifeye Mascara as the first time I wore it one of my colleagues asked if I was wearing fake eyelashes which was so nice. But this looked great in the packaging as it says its a new gel formula which should give your lashes volume but still leaves them soft and not brittle and flaky like most other mascara. I did try it last night and it didn't make a great first impression but I will give it a fair try.

Day 2

1. Botanics Hot Cloth Cleansing Balm

When I came home on Saturday night I made the silly mistake of watching Pixiwoo's interview with Carolines Hirons and she was recommending cleansing balms above other cleansers so I had to try one and not wanting to pay £34.00 for the Emma Hardie one, I popped into Boots and found this one. I'm excited to give it ago and hope it will make a noticeable difference.

2. Botanics Facial Oil

I have seen a few beauty bloggers using facial oils but I had never really heard of them before so as my skin always feels dry, I thought it would help to hydrate it. Ill let you know how it goes and give a full review.

3. Soap & Glory Clean On Me Shower Gel

This is an old favourite of mine and my favourite soap and glory shower gel. I love all their products they always leave my skin so soft and smooth and the scents are always amazing.

Well not really a mini haul in the end but I will give all the product a good go and give a full review. If anyone has tried any of these please let me know what you think or can recommend any alternatives?

Ciao for now xoxo

Maybelline Colour Tattoo 24hrs

I popped into boots not long ago and they had a 3 for 2 offer on all makeup products so instead of just having the offer on each brand you could mix and match. Now I can’t resist a 3 for 2 offer at the best of times never mind when the words mix and match come along but I digress... So when I was in there I picked up 2 of the Maybelline Colour Tattoo 24hrs Cream Eye Shadows, I have never really used cream eye shadows at least not since I was a little girl and they used to come in those cheap make up palettes (which I’m sure we all remember) I got the shades No.65 Pink Gold and No.40 Permanent Taupe as they where the most neutral in the range.

I choose these colours as there was only a very small range of colours, at least in my local boots, and these two were the most usable on a day to day basis, although they did have some amazing bright colours which would look great for a night out look.

The Pink Gold colour is a soft pink with shimmery gold undertones and the Permanent Taupe is a matte medium brown. They both have a great colour pay off and didn't crease at all The colours work really well on their own or together, I like to blend the taupe colour all over the lid and then softly layer the pink gold colour in the inner corners and out to the lid to brighten the eye up. They do set very quickly so you need to work fast with them. They say they should last 24hours but I don't know who would need to wear make up for that long, but they last from when I apply my make up in the morning to when i get home and take it off. It's a staple for when I'm at work as it creates a simple effortless look which can be transformed to the evening just by adding more colour over the top, some eyeliner and extra coats of mascara easy if your in a rush.

They are great quality for a high street/drugstore product and I have heard that they are very similar to the Benefit Creaseless Cream Eye Shadow Liners and the Mac Paint Pots although I have never used either of these products, I may now have to as I'm excited to have lots more colours in cream eye shadows. They come in the cutest little glass pots and I know they will last for ages as such a little bit of colour goes a long way.

Have you tried these eye shadows and did you like them ? Can you recommend any good shades from Benefit or Mac ?

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation

This is one of my favourite foundations at the moment. I have been using it for a while and it’s always really reliable. It claims to have all these fruit extracts that are meant to be really good for the skin, I don’t know about that but I do find it hydrating and it makes my skin look glowing. It also says it has a 16 hour wear but as I never really have to wear foundation for 16 hours I don’t know how true that is, plus I have a really bad habit of touching my face so to be honest I’m probably not the best person to test that aspect of it. It does have a scent to it, I wouldn’t normally put heavily scented products on my face but I actually quite like this one, it smells very fresh and the apricot in it really comes through. I would say it has a medium coverage and I do find the Bourjois colour range great for my very fair skin. I wear shade 51 and its one of the only high street foundations that matches my skin colour.

 I recently went to repurchase this product and found that they had changed the bottle from a cheap plastic one to a glass one which is great and gives it a more expensive look and if where honest we do love nice packaging.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains

I bought these lip stains after umming and ahing over the Clinique Chubby Sticks as I wanted a few colours for different looks and at £16.00 I wanted something a little more value for money so I picked these up when I was in Boots for £7.99 each. I have Honey, Cherish and Lovesick. They don’t have a massive shade range, at least not what I have seen in the UK but they do have a few key colours. They are great to apply on the go as they have a pointed nib which is also retractable which means no sharpening!! They have a gel formula which is really moisturising on the lips and also a slight minty smell which to be honest I’m not a massive fan of. I do really like these they are easy to apply and add just a flush of colour with a little shine great for busy days when you don’t want to worry about smudging or reapplying every 10 minutes.

My New Best Friend!!

I love, love, love this product. The Vichy Laboratories Pureté Thermale 3 in 1 is a one-step cleanser specially designed for sensitive skin. Its three products in one, a cleansing milk, toner and an eye makeup remover. Who doesn’t love a multi-use product especially when it comes to the monotonous job of removing your make up at the end of every day? I first tried this product when a relative gave me a small bottle for a birthday and to be honest I didn’t take much notice of it and it just sat in a draw. When I finally came back to it I just fell in love with the ease of it. It does a great job of taking my make up off in one easy step and leaves my skin so soft. I would not be without it now and for £11 for what is essentially 3 products is a bargain. It’s also paraben free which is an added bonus.

My Everyday Basics!!

These products are some of my favorite basics to use on a daily basis. I use them nearly everyday for work and going out to meet up with friends.

Moisturiser = Oilatum Natural Repair face cream.
This stuff it amazing if you suffer from dry or sensitive skin, it’s so creamy but not at all greasy. I apply this every morning under my makeup and it works as a great base. I wouldn’t recommend this for any one with oily skin but if you have dry skin or suffer from any skin conditions such as psoriasis or eczema its great as if have no fragrance, preservatives or emulsifiers.

Primer = Revlon Photoready Perfecting Primer
I don’t always use a primer unless I’m having a really bad skin day. I tend to wear it over my moisturiser although I know most people say that’s a no no but I do find it really helps my make up stay in place and stops my foundation clinging to any dry patches. I really like the formulation of the photoready primer as it goes on smoothly and there is no need to work it into the skin.

Foundation = Mac Studio Sculpt ( I wear NC15)
I know mac foundations aren’t always recormended for people with dry skin but I find the studio sculpt is an exception to the rule. I find is a really good coverage and I thinking the matching service in mac is great. I really suffer from rosy cheeks and it’s something I’m really quiet conscious about and I find this does a really good job of covering them and all I need to use is a pea size amount. It is great value for money as it lasts forever. Although this is my go to foundation I do tend to switch them up quite often as I don’t always need a fuller coverage depending on what im doing that day.

Concealer = Mac Mineralise Concealer   ( I wear NW15)
I love this concealer I don’t know how I have managed without it for so long. It’s great for under the eyes as its brightening, so good for waking up tired eyes. I don’t often get a full 8 hours sleep so I do find this an essential part of my makeup bag. If you need a fuller coverage concealer then this might not be for you and I wouldn't recommend this for use on blemishes or spots as you don’t really want to highlight those areas.

Bronzer = Benefit Hoola
This is a matte bronzer with no shimmer or sparkle in it making it great for contorting. This works great on loads of skin shades, I have really pale skin and find this is not orange at all and its really buildable if you want to get a darker shade. Im not a fan of the little brush that comes with it but the packaging looks great and is compact. I also find it lasts for ages so its great value for money.

Blusher = Benefit Bella Bamba
This is such a cute name for a blusher but then all of the benefit products have really fun names. I don’t always wear blushers as I do have very rosy cheeks anyway, especially when its cold outside. I end up looking like a rag doll. But I will wear one if I have a full coverage foundation on and this one is great for adding just a bit of a rosy shimmer. It has gold undertones so its great for brightening the skin.
Highlighter = Benefit High Beam
As you can tell I do like a few benefit products. The High Beam is a liquid highlighter and is great for giving you that dewy glow. I use is along the top of my cheek bones and apply it with a foundation brush just a little goes a long way so it’s easy to apply without budging your foundation. I also apply a little on by brow bone and down my nose just to brighten my face up.

Eye shadow = Sleek Eye shadow palettes
These are a great value for money as they are under £8.00 for 12 colours. They are super pigmented and are really blendable. If you are looking for some eye shadows on a budget you can’t really go wrong, they do 7 different palettes and one primer palette. I have Au Naturel and Oh So Special which are a mixture of mattes and shimmers for all different looks.

These are just a few of my basic products thats I use almost everyday. They never seem to fail me even on my worst makeup days so they are worth getting if you are looking to replace any of your "basics".

Thanks for reading, Ciao for now! xoxo
